Art therapy is a therapeutic approach that combines the creative process with psychotherapy. Art therapy can address issues across the whole spectrum on human condition- from internal psychological struggles to broader social and community challenges. Through various forms of artmaking, it offers a non-verbal way to explore emotions, experiences, and challenges—especially when words are hard to find.
An art therapist is a trained mental health professional with education in both psychotherapy and the creative process. Like talk therapists, we are trained to support emotional, psychological, and social well-being—but we incorporate art-making as part of the therapeutic process.
We collaborate with clients to set goals, create treatment plans, and support growth through both art and conversation. Art therapy offers a space to explore patterns, emotions, and internal experiences that may be holding us back. With the guidance of a trained professional, the process can help shift us from surviving to thriving.
