Painted Pathways turn plain concrete or asphalt surfaces into vibrant, interactive environments that encourage movement, creativity, and connection. From playful sensory trails that invite hopping, crawling, and exploration, to outdoor spaces that inspire storytelling and shared learning, each pathway is thoughtfully designed to engage both body and mind.
Painted Pathways can be created between mid-May and the end of October.
Creative Support for Students
Painted Pathways promote student wellness through:
Movement and mindfulness
Emotional regulation
Sensory engagement
Energy release or restoration
Storytelling, connection, and shared learning
Recognition of culture, history, and community
They bring simple, creative tools to school spaces—supporting movement, focus, and connection.
Building Painted Pathways Together
In elementary schools, Painted Pathways are designed and painted by Ryan Robson, with occasional support from adult volunteers. At the middle and high school levels, students are invited to participate in the concept development and planning of the pathways—encouraging collaboration, ownership, and creative engagement.
Projects require a minimum 70-hour contract, with pricing based on the scale and complexity of the design.
Painted Pathways are thoughtfully designed to promote movement, sensory awareness, and connection. These vibrant installations encourage physical activity and mindfulness, while also serving as gathering spaces that bring people together and foster a sense of community.
Each pathway honours the culture and identity of the place it’s created, incorporating symbols and themes that reflect the community’s past, present, and future—telling its story and inspiring pride, belonging, and shared experience.
