I offer Parent/Child Art Therapy sessions that bring children and their parents or caregivers together in a creative, supportive space. Through shared art-making, families can explore emotions, improve communication, and strengthen their connection in meaningful ways. These sessions nurture empathy, support emotional regulation, and build emotional resilience—honoring each person’s unique voice while fostering deeper understanding and shared growth.
How I Support the Journey
As an art therapist, I guide the process by encouraging honest self-expression, and supporting both the parent and child to tap into their inner experience through creative activities. Art-making becomes a tool for enhancing communication, building trust, and exploring emotions or dynamics within the relationship. I create a safe environment where nonverbal communication and imagination open new pathways for understanding, trust, and healing.
In these sessions, parents or caregivers take an active role in creating a supportive, therapeutic space for their child. As the art therapist, I guide the process by offering materials, creative prompts, and gentle direction while the parent facilitates the experience for their child.
Between each session, I check in with the parent to reflect on the previous session, offer insights, and provide suggestions for the next. This ongoing support helps build confidence, deepen understanding, and ensure the experience continues to feel safe and meaningful for both parent and child.
This offering is ideal for parents and caregivers of children who may be experiencing emotional challenges, anxiety, behavioral difficulties, or family transitions. It’s equally valuable for families who simply want to deepen their connection and explore creative ways of being together.
